The State of Today’s Sexual Culture
When I was first approached about reviewing Best Sex Writing 2012 and doing a give away, I was all, yeah. I have a two year old and a twitter habit and the last actual book I read was when I was pregnant. And really, with the amount of time I have for actual sex these days, the LAST thing I wanted was to be forced to read about a bunch of people who do, get wound up, then return to doing competitive laundry folding. I was assured that this book was different and that I should give it a chance. I figured that if nothing else, you people needed a chance at free smut, so here I am.
Thing is, I really like this book. It is different. It’s not what you think of when you think “Sex Writing” because even as you read that, you are thinking about big cock, rippling muscles and bouncing titties aren’t you. It’s cool. So was I.
Best Sex Writing is closer to The Other Women series then smut. It’s all about sex. All aspects of sex. But it’s about real peoples real sexualities. It’s about what defines them. It talks about things that society doesn’t allow within it’s polite borders.
A man talks about loving Fat Chicks and dispels the misconceptions about dating them.
A man talks about how the line in a childhood poem “snips and snails and puppy dog tails” defined his body image.
(Yes, I do like reading about the men’s point of view.)
But also an escort talks about why she would rather sleep with five blue collar Johns a day rather then the one mega rich John.
And for the political amongst you, how about a twist in the law where a man lands in jail for 15 years for creating child pronography. Did he do it? Yes. Does he deserve to be in jail for 15 years? I would bet you say no after reading this piece. Even I did and I’m sorta in the camp where child pornographers should be castrated without pain killers and tossed to the wolves.
It is short stories that even I can digest, with my gold fishesque attention span by authors from all walks of life. You can basically set down, open it up and strike something interesting. Shall we give it a try?
*walks in bathroom, drops trow, sits down and ignores the pounding of a small car on the bathroom door.*
*flip flip flip*
The Dynamics of Sexual Acceleration by Chris Sweeney. Scanning quickly while listening to “Mommy! What are you doin!?” … it’s all about premature ejaculation. The Psychology. The bioligy. The chemistry. The companies that profit. The cheesy commercials we all love and enjoy.
Now to open the door and give Carlo the Car many kisses and try to convince Monkey that he too could have alone time in the bathroom if ONLY he would poop in the toilet.
So on to the giveaway! I am pleased to say that not only will the winner receive Best Sex Writing 2012, they will also receive copies of Women in Lust and Obsessed. Two top rated bedtime books for grownups.
